Growing up in sunny Southern California—with its beaches, perfect weather, and friendly people—life feels full of joy. But none of it means much without good health. As Herophilus once said, “When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot flourish, strength cannot be exerted, wealth is useless, and reason is powerless.”

Most of us don’t truly appreciate that until our health falters. That realization inspired our family to make changes—eating better, living more mindfully, and rediscovering our energy and joy. We began to see life’s simple gifts—friendships, smiles, ocean waves, and affection—with renewed clarity.
